Drones are amazing, especially the ones with HD cameras, they let you observe the world from above and see and experience places you may not have otherwise.

There are a lot more cheap 4K drones than the ones I have listed, but they are my personal favourite and you will be able to take stunning videos and photos.

The DJI Mavic Mini

Ok, I will admit the only reason I put the DJI Mavic Mini on this list despite it not being a 4K drone is because it is my favourite FHD camera drone and it costs less than $400.The drone is one of the most well-designed drones and very lightweight.The Mavic Mini is a small foldable drone that weighs less than 205g, DJI engineered this drone so that it comes with nearly all of DJI’s innovative features without the added weight.The DJI Mavic Mini comes with an exceptional 2.7K camera, it is stabilised by an advanced 3-axis motorised gimbal. This gimbal will make sure that your videos and images are distortion-free with absolutely no jello effect, this makes it great to video fast-moving objects.It comes with a 12 MP CMOS sensor and lens that has an 83° field of view and along with the gimbal system, the camera can be turned in many different angles to get the shot that you want.The Mavic Mini can record video footage in 2.7K at 30 fps which looks really good and the live video feed to your smartphone is shown in 720p. DJI have developed a whole new ap just for this drone called the Fly App and it is compatible with both Android and iOS devices, it has a fantastic UI and is easy to use. Hubsan are a well-known brand in the world of low-cost consumer drones, however, the Hubsan Zino is their first attempt at a higher-end drone and it is a very good attempt.The Hubsan Zino is a foldable drone and it looks awesome, it comes with 4 powerful brushless motors and a streamlined aerodynamic design both of which gives the drone a top speed of 60 km/h, which makes it one of the fastest consumer drones on the market.It comes with a 4K camera supported by a 3-axis gimbal for superior quality images and videos that free of any kind of distortion. This a fantastic looking camera that blends in nicely with the aesthetics of the drone, it has a dedicated high-end image processor from Ambarella that further enhances the quality of images and videos. With its 5G WiFi technology, you will be able to stream high-quality video footage to your smartphone and save the files on a micro SD card.The X-Hubsan app is one of the best drone apps and is constantly evolving, it’s easy to use and you get access to most of the drone’s features. Xiaomi FIMI X8 SE

Xiaomi are not known for making drones, however, the ones they have made have been well received and the FIMI X8 SE is one of the best 4K drones under $500.It has a foldable design and is very compact making it a great drone to travel with. It is a medium-sized and weighs just under 800g which isn’t that heavy but still heavier than most foldable drones. I like the overall design of this drone, it looks like a modern smartphone when folded up and it will not take up much space if you are a frequent traveller.It comes with powerful brushless motors that are quieter, more powerful and efficient than brushed motors. The 4K camera is supported by a 3-axis mechanical gimbal, the camera lens has a 78.8° field of view and the gimbal can be rotated in multiple angles that will allow you to get the perfect angle for your videos and images.The mechanical gimbal will also make sure that your videos and images are crystal clear and free from any kind of distortion.The camera has a dedicated high-end image processor from Sony that will enhance the end results of your images and videos. Upair One 4K Drone

The Upair One Drone was one of the first cheap 4K drones on the market, it still remains one of the best budget-friendly 4K drones and comes with some exceptional features.The design of the drone is similar to that of the DJI Phantom 4, it’s a rather large drone and is heavy as well, it’s not a great drone to travel with and that is one of its negative aspects but other than that it is an exceptional drone with a fantastic camera.The 4K camera is mounted on a 2-axis mechanical gimbal and can record video footage in 4K at 24 fps, it’s not the greatest frame rate but the quality is still good, especially for the price.The mechanical gimbal stabilises your videos and images and also allows you to get better viewing angles by rotating it. The camera has a Sony CMOS sensor that is capable of taking images in 12 MP which will allow you to take some stunning aerial photography.One of the best features of this drone is the remote controller which comes with a 5.8-inch LCD screen. This is a pretty large screen and means you do not have to use your smartphone to stream live video footage. The drone has a flight time of 19 minutes and comes with a couple of intelligent flight modes including an automatic return home feature.

Upair 2 Ultrasonic 4K

This is the latest drone from Upair and it is even more impressive than the Upair One drone and it is the most expensive drone on this list costing a little over $500.It’s similar in design to the Phantom 4 Pro, it has an all-white colour scheme, 4 powerful brushless motors with easy to install propellers for better flight performance. There are large LED lights underneath each motor which is useful for nighttime flying and they are also used to indicate when the drone compass is fully calibrated.The Upair 2 camera is one of the most unique camera systems I have come across on a drone. It is supported by a 3-axis mechanical gimbal and there are three camera lenses, one is 4K and the other two are 2K. The 2K lenses are to be used with a VR headset to provide a 3D flying experience.The camera has a Panasonic image sensor that can take 16 MP photos and it can record 4K video footage at 30 fps. The live video feed is streamed in 720p like most other high-end drones and transmission range for FPV is over 2 km while the normal transmission range is around 5 km.It comes with several intelligent flight modes and has a flight time of around 24 minutes. One major advantage it has over the other drones on this list is because of its size and weight it can be flown in windy conditions and you will still get high-quality video footage.

Eachine EX4

Eachine are known for their low-cost drones, their most popular drone is the E58 which is a carbon copy of the Mavic Pro minus the advanced features. With the Eachine EX4, they have stepped up a gear with their first 4K camera drone.The EX4 is well-designed and has a very premium feel to it, it is a foldable drone that weighs less than 500g and comes with several advanced features like GPS and smart flight modes.The camera is stabilised by a 3-axis gimbal and can take stunning aerial photography in HD 4K. However, it is the only 4K drone on this list that does not record video footage in 4K, instead, it records in 1080p which is still good quality but still not 4K.The drone has a flight time of around 25 minutes and has a transmission range of around 1000 meters in optimal conditions. Its FPV range is a little less at around 800 meters and you can get decent quality live video footage on a good clear day.It’s not the best 4K drone and doesn’t record videos in 4K but it is the cheapest on this list and the overall quality is good.
